Hello, new to this forum, and I am trying to find out a general value of my recently acquired dan wesson .357 magnum. I do not have any pictures available at the moment, but I will describe it in as good of detail as possible. It is a 715 model made in monson, mass with a serial number of 001047.Model numbers are on the frame under the crane. They are usually in different depth and type face than the inspection numbers and you may need a magnifier. On my least ancient Smith, it is stamped "MOD 14-3" under what looks like some kind of inspection number. The serial number is on the bottom of the grip frame.The company offers a variety of models, including the Classic, the Specialist, the Expert, the Elite, the RZ-45, and the RZ-10.The company offers a variety of models, including the 1911, the P-9, the P-40, the P-45, and the P-357.The Dan Wesson Arms Company was founded in 1968 by Daniel B. As Steve noted, this isn't exact science yet, but we happen to have several data points around your serial number, including my 15-2 pac Serial #1537XX with original barrel wrappers dated May 1978.
