Yesterday I played as some religious fanatics and had a pretty okay fleet going (from my experience at least) with about 4k strength by 2280. I discovered a space dragon which absolutely annihilated my science ship, so I sent in two of my 1.5k fleets, and they didn't even scratch it.Its not a tech rush while you need living metal + citadels to build baby dragons you get the mother dragon from unity. Yep, I've got 4 or 5 of them recruited in my current game. They are flying around my home system along with Bubbles. R5: I opened the L-Gates, got the L-Drakes, and somehow another (AI-controlled) empire managed to recruit them! Everyone can recruit them. Just have to send a science ship into the sector they are in.
